Culturehub Artalk Series Presents Ping Chong & Co. + La MaMa’s Great Jones Rep.

October 5 / 9PM

47 Great Jones Street/3rd Floor New York

New York, NY 10012

PING CHONG will give a talk on the evolution of his interdisciplinary approach to theater in relationship to changes in contemporary arts and culture over the past 40 years. This presentation will provide context for an open rehearsal of ANGELS OF SWEDENBORG with La MaMa’s acclaimed Great Jones Repertory Company. ANGELS OF SWEDENBORG will kick off at LaMaMa’s 50th Anniversary Season this fall and is a revival of Ping Chong’s signature dance theater work, which toured extensively in the United States and Europe. This Artalk session will be shared with an audience at the Seoul Institute of the Arts via telepresence and live-streamed online.

Organizer

Culturehub SeoulArts/La MaMa

Culturehub was born out of the desire to further develop the long-standing relationship between the Seoul Institute of the Arts in Korea and La MaMa e.t.c. in New York. At the core, Culturehub values cross-cultural, artistic collaboration and it is our belief that artists, working in all mediums, must continue to experiment with new and developing technologies.

Currently, Culturehub consists of two Telepresence Studios. These mirrored spaces, link the two organizations through the use of digital technology and virtual space. Our goal is to create an international hub for artists, scholars, innovators and students. Through our collaborative projects, we hope to develop a method of exchange, which can be duplicated on a global scale, bridging the gap between art, technology and science; as well as further broadening the ability for artists and audiences to interact with one another over distance.
